Security Features of The Naira Notes

According to the CBN here are the security features is the naira notes;

There are a number of security features on Naira banknotes that make it easy to tell which ones are real. The raised print, the security thread, and the watermark are the things that can be seen and felt to tell them apart. Other parts of the front and back of the bills, such as the portrait, lettering, and denominational numbers, are embossed. The raised prints make the notes feel different, and “CBN” is written in small letters on both sides of the security thread, which normally looks broken but isn’t when held up to the light.

The Naira bills are also made so that they can’t be copied. There are also things that can be seen with ultraviolet light. For example, the serial number on each bill is black, but under ultraviolet light it turns green.

Nigerian banknotes come in five, ten, twenty, fifty, one hundred, two hundred, five hundred, and one thousand naira. The smaller bills (5, 10, 20, and 50) are printed on polymer substrate and measure 130 x 72 mm. The larger bills (100, 200, 500, and 1000) are printed on paper substrate and measure 151 x 78 mm. There are parts in the paper and polymer that are only found in banknotes. The printing process and the materials used to make currency banknotes give them unique qualities that help them last for a long time. At the same time, these special features give the bills a unique look and feel that is meant to keep counterfeiters away.
